EXCLUSIVE Photos & Live Show Review : The Venetia Fair

The Venetia Fair in Clifton, NJ on September 23, 2014

One Summer I was lucky enough to sneak into the last half of the Dalai Lama’s lecture on quantum physics at UCSD & up until I witnessed The Venetia Fair perform live, that was the most confused I had ever been in my 23 years of existence. Before September 23, 2014 I had never seen nor even heard of The Venetia Fair. It’s tough to say what actually happened that night, but to put it simply, they blew my mind to bits.

Watching The Venetia Fair is like watching a derailed train blasting through the desert with the conductor on the roof, screaming at the top of his lungs while holding on for dear life. The music itself, reminiscent of a circus fire, is surely enough to get a crowd moving & thoroughly entertained, but what brings their live set to the point of brain-melting amazement is the band’s performance.

With every member kicking & flailing throughout the entire stage, it’s impossible to look away. Vocalist Benny Santoro is quick to display his ability to contort his body around with his microphone while simultaneously exercising perfect tonal control. With his microphone constantly flying through the venue it was incredible to witness him actually able to sing cohesively throughout the night.

Another aspect of their set worth mentioning is their attitude. The band plays valiantly(/violently) with one of the kindest fuck-you auras constantly resonating around the stage. It’s almost as if they hate me, but only because they care.

Getting the chance to watch The Venetia Fair was absolutely wild. If you’re into circus-esque theatrical catastrophe & loud noises, I would definitely consider checking them out. Seriously. Find out when they’re playing near you & witness it for yourself. In an eternity, my words could do no justice to the beautifully disastrous musical performance that is The Venetia Fair.
