[Exclusive Show Review] MEGOSH at Webster Hall as part of Outerloop Records Showcase by Zack Lee

November 17th 2016 // Manhattan, NY: The boys are back in town. The band’s first show with their new label Outerloop Records at Webster Hall showcases the passion and invigoration to both old and new material. Playing a setlist consisting of six songs, Megosh have proven that they are still able to embrace where they have been and where they are heading towards.

As a treat for those who were in attendance of the show, the audience were treated to a new song, combining the sound that made Megosh who they were through Revival but also showcasing their newfound technical skills and maturation in growing as a band as the first song. A electrifying combination of the tri-vocals, live harmonies and the heavy instrumentals helped to set the tune for what can be expected in the highly anticipated forthcoming album, ‘Apostasy’.

Playing at one of their favorite venues, it wouldn’t be right to not play “Black is The New Blonde”. Fusing a rougher, more raw and heavier sound than the original while still maintaining what made the song, Megosh managed to dazzle the crowd getting them to scream the lyrics in a scream-along.

The biggest surprise of the night for their set may possibly be during the song of “Body Works“.
A surprise guest vocal from Brenden Blish, bellowing the screaming vocals helped to top off an excellent performance from Megosh and contrasts the unique harmonies bringing a different take that’s more primal in tone but ultimately tying back to what makes this band stand out.

Of course at a record showcase, it would not be complete without playing the latest single, “Desperada”. The crowd gleefully singing and moving to the beat. Seeing a new song performed live is always a huge fear for any artist however, this writer can easily say that Megosh hit home run on their first performance of a brand new single.

Overall, it’s not often that one is able to say that a band has matured in such a way that they are able to combine what made them unique and improve upon it so that everyone yearns for more but Megosh have in their short set been able to make everyone excited for the direction of their new album and invest in the excitement that Outerloop Records may bring. The boys are back in town.
