Southern MA // April 23, 2014 – Progressive indie rockers, WAR GAMES have announced the release date of their second EP, The Acoustic Sessions, via digital retailers on July 2. In anticipation, they have released their second single “Mountains (Acoustic)” for FREE download exclusively on their Warped Tour Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands page here [http://warped.battleofthebands.com/u/wargamesband]. An accompanying video has also been released:

They are among one of the top ten bands from New England, competing to perform on the Ernie Ball Stage at the 2014 Vans Warped Tour date in Mansfield, MA on July 10. “It’s been almost two years since our last release and it feels great to get some music out, not only for our fans and friends, but for ourselves!” they commented. “The Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands contest is a great opportunity for up and coming bands to be featured at arguably the best touring music festival in the country. The support of our friends and fans has been overwhelming and very much appreciated. We look forward to hopefully winning and once again playing the Warped tour.”

“Mountains (Acoustic)” features Rich Ferri, one of the bands favorite Rhode Island folk musicians. “I’ve been a big fan of Rich’s music for five years now, so it’s a real honor to finally get to work with him,” said vocalist Kyle Therrien. “[Working with him] was a great experience. His knowledge of music and the recording process is amazing.”

The first EP single, “The Only Debt We Bear Is Love” was released earlier this year with excellent reception. Following their 2012 Mountains release, the upcoming EP developed after a fan suggestion for an acoustic album bloomed into full form. Striped down and rebuilt, the project allowed the band to connect with fans, through the song selection process. Guitarist Ian Provost noted, “I think they’ll be pleasantly surprised with how everything has come together.”

BIO:
After almost a decade of rigorous US/UK touring, multiple albums and three years of selling their records on The Vans Warped Tour the boys in Another Option decided it was time to start over fresh, re-brand and change their band name. Now “War Games” made up of Kyle Therrien (Vocals), Andy Calheta (Bass), Ian Provost (guitar), Matt Dilecce (guitar) and Andrew Audette (Drums) have officially hit the scene.

The bands first show as “War Games” took place June 9th, 2012 with renowned punk rockers (A Wilhelm Scream) and just days after that with their EP “Mountains” produced by Ace Enders (The Early November) they hit the road on their first tour, a 22 day stint playing the Ourstage.com stage on The Vans Warped Tour. After a successful run on The Vans Warped Tour, the band returned home to play a local showcase with Transit (Rise Records) and William Beckett former Academy Is frontman.

Staying true to influences of Thrice, Brand New, and Circa Survive the southern Massachusetts five piece demonstrate their continuous ability to lift up and inspire listeners with themes of finding yourself and not giving up on what means most to you.
