Famined Records Belgium metalcore outfit Strains are pleased to premiere Redefine[d] a day before it releases worldwide. The Aljoscha Sieg recorded EP, will be the band’s label debut and took over a year to record with Maarten commenting, “We took our time to get the best out of this first EP and are more than happy with the record we’ve been able to create.” Maarten continued by revealing, “In 2007 I suffered from an accident that put me in the hospital in complete isolation for several months, undergoing over 10 surgeries. This accident changed everything I stood for and knew of life at that point. Every track of Redefine[d] tells a part of my story starting at how I now look at the life I led before the accident to today where I analyze the whole process I underwent and my look at the future. Although the lyrics are quite personal, I still feel they’re abstract enough for other people to relate to the daily struggles that changed me as a person in every aspect.”

About Strains:
Strains are a brand new modern metal / hardcore act hailing from Opglabbeek, Belgium. Although the group consists of really young members (most of them born in 1993), they’ve already toured Europe multiple times with their previous band, delivering crushing performances on stages all over the continent as support for bands such as While She Sleeps, Heaven Shall Burn and Stick To Your Guns.
They’ve now decided to renew their image and start a new project with the same members, calling themselves Strains. The band released their first single “Infinite” together with a music video in December 2014, which reached thousands of views in only a matter of weeks. Their debut EP Redefine[d] is set to be released through American label Famined Records. The album tells the personal story of an accident vocalist Maarten had in 2007, expressing pain, struggle, hope, and insecurity.
