Mumford & Sons have released a new video for their song “The Wolf.” The video charts the band over 48 hours at the 2015 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, as the band donned costumes and surreptitiously enjoyed the Bonnaroo experience amongst the masses of attendees. The video also features energetic footage of the band’s Saturday night headlining performance at the festival. “The Wolf” video is directed by Marcus Haney (No Cameras Allowed). “The Wolf” comes from the band’s newest album, the recently released Wilder Mind out now on Gentlemen of the Road / Glassnote Records. Produced in London by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, HAIM, Florence & The Machine), and recorded at AIR Studios in London, Wilder Mind features twelve new tracks written collaboratively by the band in London, Texas, and at Aaron Dessner’s (The National) garage studios in Brooklyn.
Gone are the band’s signature banjo and kick drum, replaced by a new emphasis on percussion and focused guitarwork that references rock traditions of the 1970s and 1980s. Experiments in texture and dynamics in early writing sessions in London led the band to a more widescreen, panoramic approach. And yet the songcraft, lyrical depth, and emotional urgency are unmistakably Mumford & Sons. Marcus Mumford describes Wilder Mind as “a development, not a departure”, a conscious decision by the band to expand their horizons while holding true to the key elements of their sound.
Wilder Mind follows the 2012 release of Mumford & Sons’ sophomore album, 2012’s Grammy-winning Babel, the follow-up to their 2009 debut album, Sigh No More.
Mumford & Sons have been touring through the summer in support of Wilder Mind, having already completed headline shows in Brooklyn and Chicago, and at Bonnaroo, with more appearances to come at Outside Lands, and Squamish, and their own Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers. For the full itinerary, please see below.
The band’s US shows include two more Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers in Walla Walla, WA; and Salida, CO; following successful Stopovers which took place in Seaside Heights, NJ; and Waverly, IA. For full lineups and details, visit http://www.Gentlemenoftheroad.com.
