Maritime will release their fifth full-length album, Magnetic Bodies/Maps of Bones, on October 16th via Dangerbird Records. The Milwaukee four-piece have spent the past year working on and off in the studio as they completed recording on the follow up to their well-received 2011 LP, Human Hearts, “a bold, assured effort,” wrote the AV Club, that found “Maritime definitively stepping out from the shadows of the past and into a new light.” The band will preview songs from their new album at Summerfest later this week, and take to the road this fall in the lead up to its release. Confirmed tour dates below.
For more than a decade now, Maritime have carved out an impressive body of work. “Maritime’s musical development”, wrote Pitchfork while reviewing their last album, “has become a compelling narrative of its own, each subsequent record in many ways both improving upon and elucidating the last.” With Magnetic Bodies/Maps of Bones, Maritime continue that movement forward.
Maritime is comprised of Davey von Bohlen, Dan Didier, Dan Hinz, and Justin Klug. Keep posted in the coming months for new music and further announcements on their forthcoming album and tour dates.
