TOURING NORTH AMERICA THIS SUMMER AND FALL
ON AN ON are excited to present their brand new track titled “I Can’t Escape It,” a song exclusively being revealed through the band’s custom-made maze called You Can’t Escape It that is now available to play at http://www.itsonanon.com. Created by a friend of the band, Benjamin Miles, with design direction by Ryne Estwing of ON AN ON, the new interactive maze is an immersive experience where fans can listen to multiple songs from the band all while playing a throwback, arcade-style game that was created entirely from scratch. For one week the game will be live via the band’s official website, as will “I Can’t Escape It,” a song being featured on ON AN ON’s forthcoming sophomore album titled And The Wave Has Two Sides, which will be released via Roll Call Records on Friday, July 24. Play You Can’t Escape It HERE and pre-order ON AN ON’s And The Wave Has Two Sides on iTunes HERE.
Additionally, ON AN ON have recently released the music video for the song “It’s Not Over” from And The Wave Has Two Sides, a track Vanity Fair just named one of their “Best Songs of the Week.” The Carlos Lopez Estrada-directed video was shot entirely on an iPhone 6 and features two lovers as they chase each other alongside a speeding train; crashing through buildings, jumping over cows and riding along on horses and motorcycles and even jet-packs to keep up. The fun and dynamic video is the perfect compliment to the upbeat song. “Put this in the right hands and it’ll be dominating the radio for the rest of the year,” Stereogum declared last month of “It’s Not Over,” while Entertainment Weekly dared their readers to “Try not to dance to ON AN ON’s ‘It’s Not Over’.” ON AN ON will take to the road this summer and fall in support of their new album. Upcoming tour dates and links to listen below.
The Minneapolis trio recorded the follow-up to their well-received debut, Give In, at the famous Sunset Sound studios in Los Angeles with legendary producer Joe Chiccarelli (Spoon, White Stripes, The Shins, My Morning Jacket). When ON AN ON began work on their new album, they brought a new approach to their songwriting with them. “This is another first record for us in a way,” says keyboardist Alissa Ricci of And The Wave Has Two Sides. “This time we came into the studio as a band,” she says, alluding to their experience with Give In, which was recorded only weeks after the three members had formed ON AN ON. “Give In was us learning to think less and trust our instincts,” she continues. “What you hear on that record is a band beginning.”
If Give In was the result of a band exploring their sonic horizons and letting go of control while they figured out who they wanted to be, And The Wave Has Two Sides is the moment of clarity they came to as a result of that initial soul searching journey. A year and a half playing shows in support of Give In provided ON AN ON with time to examine how they wanted to expand and grow sonically, resulting in more collaborative writing and experimental live tracking.
