“gorgeous lyrics float around tinges of indie rock sounds” – Diffuser
“shimmering guitar riffs and rolling drums marry with strained, comparatively low-key vocals” – When the Gramophone Rings
“the audio embodiment of summer” – Property of Zack
“delicious indie rock” – The 405
“one of the best albums I’ve heard this year” – East of 8th
Detroit based indie/pop band Two Cheers today released their new album Splendor, which can be streamed in its entirety on the band’s official Soundcloud. The album has received rave reviews from sources like The 405, When the Gramophone Rings, Property of Zack, Free Bike Valet, Diffuser, and Purevolume, and has been compared to artists like The 1975, Wavves, The Strokes, and The Cure.
Splendor was recorded and produced entirely in vocalist/founder Bryan Akcasu’s apartment during the fall and winter of 2014. “The whole album is about overcoming the ego and seeing the splendor of the world in terms of the minutia, and being responsible for every single detail and technicality from the beginning to the end is kind of a manifestation of that theme, for better or for worse,” explains Akcasu. “It’s a really pure expression of what we’re about not only lyrically and musically, but sonically as well. We devoted our lives to it.”
Fans can expect a handful of new music videos to be released in the coming weeks and months, and can purchase the new album Splendor HERE. For more information on Two Cheers, be sure to follow the band on Facebook and Twitter.
