Picturesque interview done by Mike De Man.
Let’s take a moment to welcome back Picturesque for a second interview here with SwitchBitch Noise! (See first interview here.)
The band has made some great strides lately from being announced for a fantastic tour, plus the release of their new EP, Monstrous Things. Has all of this finally caught up to you mentally, or is all this news still astounding you day by day?
We’re all caught up as far as the EP, but as far as tour, we’re still in awe. Touring is something that every band seems to want to do and we get to do so with some really great dudes! … And playing Cee-lo
So being not only your first tour, but what may have been one of the best tours of the year, the Younger Dreams US Tour is going on right now, with Picturesque opening, supporting the likes of Hail The Sun, Palisades, and Our Last Night. What have been your favorite experiences thus far on the road with them?
One thing that really caught us off guard is how receptive the crowd has been! That and meeting new people every night are probably my favorite parts. Also playing.
The tour you’re currently on right now is quite the extensive one, having explored a large section of the United States. Has the band been able to keep up with the grueling points of travelling across the nation?
So far! We’re sleeping six in a van comfortably. We all have assigned seats that we gravitated to. So, everyone has a little space to themselves.
From not only Tumblr, but also Warped Tour rumors, Palisades seem party a lot, not that it’s a bad thing. Has Picturesque turned up with New Jersey’s very best yet, or are you saving it for the end of the tour?
Not yet! Saving the party for the end of tour!
What has been your favorite date of the tour so far? Talk to me about how awesome it was.
Chicago! We’ve never played to a crowd that size and it was hella fun!
Being a brand new band right out of the local scene, I’m sure there has been a few people who are familiar with you, but I’m sure many are not. Have you made any new fans that were totally astounded by your sound that never heard you before?
Every night! Most people haven’t heard of us before this tour which is totally fine! That’s why we do what we do! Our live show is one thing we pride ourselves in.
So tell me about the nitty gritty of travelling along with Younger Dreams. What’s the hardest aspect of this tour that Picturesque has had to deal with?
Snowstorms.
As we start to delve off of the tour life, I want to talk to you about the new EP. Recently, Picturesque has signed with stronghold Equal Vision Records and you put out your debut label release through them just a few days ago, the Monstrous Things EP. How has the reception of this been compared to your free self-titled EP released through bandcamp last December?
I feel like we got great reception from the self titled and this EP has been no different!
Including your other masterpieces such as Just Exist and Speak Softly, a new one came out just recently called Unannounced, adding a ton of hype to your future. What was the writing process like for that song?
Dylan and I locked ourselves in a room for three hours. I connected with the song and it moved pretty quickly. It was one of those songs that almost wrote itself.
There are so many opportunities awaiting the band, that they are endless. Now that so many great things have been happening for Picturesque, what’s next on grand scale of things?
More tours and, fingers crossed, an LP!
