Using the band’s background in musical theatre, they recruited young talent from the Lake Tahoe and Carson City area for a performance that is as visually stunning as it is audibly exhilarating.

“Since this song is so personal to us, the music video had to match,” explains Jen Coogan. “We wanted to tell the story of someone battling extreme shyness and social anxiety, but we wanted to express it with the medium of theatre and dance because that is something that helped us overcome this very problem. I traced my roots back to the theatre company I performed with as a kid (Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company) and found several youth actors and dancers to be a part of our video. Luckily, the Lake Tahoe and Carson City area is just dripping with talent, and we were easily able to find an amazing group of kids who were not only super talented, but also extremely driven and hard working individuals themselves. We ended up falling in love with every single one of them. The most important casting decision we had, was finding our shy girl to play the lead. When we came across Maddie, we knew she was the perfect fit. What we didn’t know, was her story.”

An incredibly devoted, talented dancer, Maddie’s career came to a screeching halt by the time she was 13 and diagnosed with severe scoliosis. As the years went on her condition worsened, and after countless doctor visits filled with botched surgeries and disheartening news, Maddie finally re-entered the world of dance nearly 3 years later at 16 years old. Just months after being told she wouldn’t be able to dance again, she appeared as the lead in this video, graceful and beautiful as ever.

The band also recruited the help of Susan Boulanger, director of the theatre department at the Lake Tahoe Community College as their acting coach,  Kevin Lane of Northern Lights Productions to assist with filming the video, Ty Vera Brown on costumes, and makeup artist Allie Ezell, who created the steampunk illusion you see in the final cut.

After months of preparation, 11-hours of shooting, and a whole lot of love and passion from their team, Constant Coogan could not be more thrilled to present the video for their lead single, “Bury Me Alive.”
