The UK-based female fronted electronic alt-pop band, Sykes have released their second EP, Gold Dust today! Stemming off of their poppier EP Out of your Hands, released in early 2013, the band is back with an independent release full of catchy indie-electro sounds with an aura of elegance and sophistication. Gold Dust, reveals the band’s impeccable musicianship and enticing song lyrics. Just last week the band partnered with Interview Magazine for the exclusive first listen to Gold Dust.
Sykes had this to say about their release:
Gold Dust is our new 4 track EP produced by Cam Blackwood. We wrote three of the songs over the past year whilst gigging and living in London, and the track “I’d Do It Again” has been in our set since our first gig! In contrast, the title track “Gold Dust¨ was only written two weeks before we went into the studio but we believed in it so much that it set the tone for the rest of the record. Enjoy!
Sykes kicked off 2014 with tumultuous performances at Glastonbury and Vans Warped Tour UK and decided it would be the year they would alter their sound completely. Stemming off a more pop EP, Sykes teamed up with Cam Blackwood and Mazen Murad at Voltaire Studios to redefine their music with a spectral synth-pop sound to form their newest release Gold Dust. The EP features two singles/music videos “Gold Dust” and “Anybody Out There” already released to much acclaim on sites such as Q Magazine, BBC Radio 1, Metro and Fred Perry Subculture.
