FREE DOWNLOAD: THE BOTS “ALANNA” (DEMO) PRODUCED BY NICK ZINNER THE BOTS ROUND OUT 2014 WITH PRAISE FROM INTERVIEW AND LA WEEKLY

LOS ANGELES, CA – JANUARY 13, 2015 – Today, LA duo The Bots are offering up a free download of an early demo version of their song “Alanna”. The song was produced by Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner and recorded in the legendary Sonic Ranch recording studio on a pecan farm near El Paso, TX. To download and find out more about the stomach-turning inspiration behind the song, visit Noisey.

“This was the first track we did together,” said Nick Zinner. “I loved the idea that we were in this amazing bucolic studio in the desert outside of El Paso and they were writing a song about a girl from their high school who used to bake them cupcakes with her own blood.”

The Bots rounded out a whirlwind 2014 with high praise from Interview, who are featuring the band this week in their “Faces of 2015” feature. Additionally, the band was recently profiled in a December issue of LA Weekly, who said “watching The Bots’ kinetic jams can remind anyone over 30 of the joyous exuberance and purity that music once brought” and called them “L.A.’s most celebrated rock duo.”

The Bots’ debut full-length, Pink Palms, was released in October via FADER Label. The LA Times premiered the record and called it “a mash of frenetic garage rock and lush indie rock.” To purchase the album, click here. Zane Lowe premiered “All I Really Want”, the album’s first single, proclaiming, “The Bots make brilliant, weird rock & roll music. And the future – a big part of it – belongs to them.” NPR Music called the song “an absolute knockout.” Click here to watch the band’s must-see music video for “All I Really Want”, which was praised by Wired as “The Internettiest Music Video That Ever Internetted” and by Fast Company as “an engaging social commentary.”

This year saw The Bots make their debut at Coachella, where they were deemed “Most Likely to Succeed” by Rolling Stone and named “one of the best young bands at Coachella” by Creative Loafing. The band also appeared at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Riotfest, Shindig Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest, supported Dropkick Murphys on a run of US dates, and toured the world – quickly gaining them a reputation as one of the best young touring bands in the country.

The band is currently starring in Mitsubishi’s “Every Mile Matters” TV commercial. The national spot features their album track “All Of Them (Wide Awake)” and can be viewed here. The band performed a stripped-down version of the song for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts here. They also performed this song and other Pink Palms tracks in a full set on KCET’s Artbound Presents Studio A – click here to watch.

Band-mates, Mikaiah Lei (Lead Vocal, Guitar, Bass) and Anaiah Lei (Drums & Percussions, Backing Vocal), recorded their first album together when they were just 15 and 12, respectively. They self-released their first three albums and completed two Vans Warped Tours, two AFROPUNK Fests, countless European festivals, and support tours with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blur, Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, Refused, and Bad Brains, before releasing their EP, Sincerely Sorry, on FADER Label in 2013.
