Fat Possum Records released a stream of Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders’ upcoming album Playmates, due February 24, 2015. The stream premiered via Noisey, who noted that “Miami Vice synths, Bryan Ferry-style crooning, and a slightly gothic 80’s vibe… are omnipresent [on Playmates].” The album stream comes after much early praise for Playmates, with NPR naming Jack Ladder a “Musician You’ll Tell Your Friends About In 2015” and noting that “Ladder’s voice has a dusky richness to it that rivals the likes of Nick Cave and Mark Lanegan,” while Buzzfeed declared him among Australia’s “Very Best of 2014,” praising his ability to shift from an “’80s inspired, rhythmic tone at times, and a dark, thrashing rock n’ roll at others.” Stereogum also recently lauded his “haunting baritone.”
Following on the heels of the announcement of their status as official SXSW 2015 artists, the group has announced a show at Rough Trade in Brooklyn, NY on March 26. A US tour is soon to be announced, as are their SXSW performance dates.
Jack Ladder upcoming shows:
3/17-22 – SXSW – Austin, TX
