Riding the wave of the recently released Parlour Tricks, Alcoa’s Derek Archambault is gearing up for a string of North American shows this week. Starting Thursday, Archambault will travel from Providence, RI out to Michigan and back to the East Coast over the course of the following ten days. These tour dates mark his first of the year under the Alcoa moniker, a project that he started in 2002 when he was listening to artists like Gram Parsons, Elliot Smith, Rocky Votolato and Ryan Adams. Alcoa took the backseat to Archambault’s full-time band, Defeater, until 2012 when the debut full-length Bone & Marrow was released to great critical acclaim. Now, Alcoa has released its sophomore album Parlour Tricks which once again pulls those alt-rock/country influences, but with more diverse instrumentation and honed-in vocals from Derek’s wife, Alyssa Archambault. The result is an album more mature and multi-faceted and is an absolutely gorgeous listen.
Selected shows along this upcoming Alcoa tour – Providence, Lancaster, Rochester, Toronto, Lansing, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, NJ, NYC, Long Island, and Portsmouth – will be offering a free download of Parlour Tricks in conjunction with ticket purchase. The first 100 show-goers will receive a download card at the door upon entry as a ‘Thank You’ for supporting Alcoa on the road. Check out all ticketing links below; download cards will be offered at the door but purchasing advance tickets is encouraged as well.
Additionally, watch the recently-premiered music video for Alcoa’s single “All Dolled Up” here and keep up with the band on Facebook.
