Brooklyn, NY // December 16, 2016: Brooklyn based, soul/indie-pop act Bree And The Whatevers team up with AXS [LINK] to premiere the official music video for new single “Homewrecker”, the title track off their upcoming EP.  The group has brought the vintage style of the single to life by pairing it with an equally retro cinematic setting.  Bree Klauser and partner in crime, Dan Kessler, keyboardist of Morricone Youth and Berklee College of Music alumnus, have created an exceptional album with diverse Motown influences such as The SupremesThe Temptations, and Smokey Robinson.

As the composer of the melodies, Bree also draws her lyrics from real life experiences portrayed in “Homewrecker” which describes her friendship turned love affair with Kessler.  Kessler then wrote, arranged and performed most of the instruments on the EP alongside producer, Scott Hollingsworth (Sean Lennon, The GOASTT and Yoko Ono) who plays keyboard for The World Inferno Friendship Society.  Together, they helped craft a 4-track EP filled with vintage charm, funk and soulful style.

We would often turn to classic Motown records as well as live recordings of James Brown, notably channeling Jimmy Nolan’s guitar style, when considering how to arrange instruments and parts. This led to an often subtle, tight coordination between the instruments, focusing on the rhythmic message and allowing for dynamic swells and drops, all the while building a nice seat for Bree’s powerful vocal stylings. – Dan Kessler

Bree was born legally blind with a condition called Achromatopsia. Being legally blind all of her life has made her a very tactile person and extremely hands on when it comes to creativity. This experience has also made her feel limitless which can be seen in her powerful music video.

The video was shot and directed by Carly Schneider and will be released on December 16th, coinciding with a digital download of the single, a live performance and music video viewing held at Lovecraft NYC [Event Link]. The single “Homewrecker” will be available for purchase and download on Bandcamp.  The full EP is slated to release in early 2017 through London based indie-record label, Montiel Records.  Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for the Homewrecker EP, which will be available via all digital platforms.

Biography: A retro-soul revival with punk cabaret aesthetics, Brooklyn based Bree And The Whatevers is a project spawned from the musical vision of legally blind vocalist Bree Klauser.  Despite this disability, Bree is very tactile and music has made her feel limitless. Currently, the band is a collaboration between Bree and her partner Dan Kessler who plays bass for the project.

The group got its start in 2013, with their first single “Isolde”, a piano ballad jazz piece.  After playing a number of shows over the years with rotating members, Bree And The Whatevers released another single in June of 2015 entitled “Go! Sailors Fight! (ゆけ!セーラームーン )”, a tribute to anime heroine Sailor Moon, the warrior of love and justice.

With a refined modern sound portrayed in their new single “Homewrecker”, Bree And The Whatevers are making bounds and leaps as they gear up for the release of their highly anticipated EP.
