Brent Walsh of I the Mighty is now premiering his new music video for “Default World” on AltPress.com. The song comes from his debut full-length album 7, which recently premiered via Pandora and is out now on Equal Vision Records. 7 was recorded with producer Jon Devoto of The Matches.
“The original concept for the “Default World” music video was to shoot it at this year’s Burning Man Festival in Black Rock City, seeing as how that’s directly what the song is about. However, due to a very hectic I the Mighty tour schedule leading into the festival, as well as Burning Man’s strict video restrictions, we just couldn’t make it work,” reveals Walsh.
“So what director Ernie Gilbert and I decided on, was to attempt to capture the love, friendship and camaraderie of Burning Man with me and my friends. We had everyone meet at my house in the morning and basically spent the day just having a blast with each other in Muir Woods, Stenson Beach and on the streets of San Francisco. The end result is the exact vibe we were going for. That entire day was so much fun (as I think the video captures) and I wear the biggest smile on my face every time I watch it.”
Walsh also recently released a music video for “Free” and a special album introduction video, both of which are available streaming at Youtube.com/equalvision.
“7 was many years in the making and spans many different writing periods in my life. I’m so happy to finally be able to share all of these personal songs I’ve been keeping to myself for so long,” shares Walsh.
Walsh is currently wrapping up writing with his I the Mighty bandmates for their highly anticipated sophomore full-length. The band will enter the studio in early January to begin recording with producer Mike Green (Paramore, Pierce The Veil, All Time Low). The album will be released in 2015 via Equal Vision Records, with more details to be announced in the new year.
