Earlier this week South African electronic production duo,Christian Tiger School, announced their signing to legendary American indie label Tommy Boy Entertainment (Ghostface Killah, Marcos Carnaval). In an exclusive interview with Okayafrica, the group shared details for, Chrome Tapes, their upcoming debut album with the label, which is due out this summer. The site raved, “The sound of the new full-length, sees Christian Tiger School integrating techno, house and experimental textures to their hazy, L.A. beat scene-inspired hip-hop production. It’s a unique sonic blend we’ve seen develop from their debut Third Floor LP, as well as their previous Africa In Your Earbuds mixtape and track collaboration with Bilal and World’s Fair.”
Christian Tiger School have partnered with SPIN to exclusively unveil the first single from the project. The track, entitled “Chorisolo,” is an up-tempo percussive workout that the pair wrote on a farm in Bainskloof during an all-night recording session. On March 1st, Christian Tiger School was featured on Boiler Room South Africa and through a partnership with Red Bull Studios. The duo is currently featured on massive Red Bull billboards across Cape Town and Johannesburg (featured left). During the campaign, the act put out an EP of two previously unreleased tracks through the Red Bull Studio SoundCloud to get fans hyped for Chrome Tapes.
