Biography:
Born in upstate New York, Sinclair cut her teeth as a competitive classical guitarist, earning multiple local and national accolades. Although encouraged to play music, Sinclair found herself at odds with the views of her pastoral father and eight siblings when, at age 20, she revealed that she was a lesbian. Feeling suddenly disconnected from her familial roots and the small town in which she was raised, Sinclair moved to Nashville in pursuit of both a musical and personal identity.
Since arriving in Nashville, Sinclair has quickly earned a reputation as one of Nashville’s most promising artists and toured with acts such as Ingrid Michaelson and Graham Colton. In 2013, Sinclair signed with independent label, Drive Music. Drive was founded by Grammy-nominated producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, etc.) and platinum-selling songwriter/producer Nolan Sipe (Zac Brown Band, Jonas Brothers, Natasha Bedingfield, Andy Grammer, etc.).
Upon completion of her debut E.P. (scheduled for release, Nov. 4th), Sinclair and longtime girlfriend, Natalie Martinusen were married in San Francisco. Sinclair’s story is one of self discovery, struggle and redemption. Considering her preferences and the situation into which she was raised, Sinclair’s an underdog, that is to say, until she steps on stage. Her abilities have been compared to John Mayer and John McLaughlin. If asked, Sinclair sites artists such as KT Tunstall and Imogen Heap as influences, though her music includes sounds from an ever expanding sonic pallet.
