New Orleans volume assassins, EYEHATEGOD, will kick off their Staggering Backwards European takeover next week. Set to embark on March 30th in Finland, the trek will fester its way through nearly two dozen cities throughout Europe including a stop at the Durbuy Rock Festival in Belgium, Desertfest in the UK and Roadburn in The Netherlands where, in addition to rupturing the stage, both guitarist Jimmy Bower and vocalist Mike IX Williams will appear on a special Q&A panel April 10th to discuss Noisey’s NOLA: Life, Death And Heavy Blues From The Bayou documentary.Released last year, the fascinating seven-part series explores the people and culture that helped spawn the Crescent City’s now-legendary hotbed of talent. A full screening of the documentary will follow the Q&A as part of Roadburn Cinema. For further info go to THIS LOCATION.
In related EYEHATEGOD tour news, the band will return to the West Coast in May to deafen ears on day one of Psycho California in Santa Ana, California alongside Atriarch, Author & Punisher, Old Man Gloom, Cough and more. The following month the band will return to France to raze Hellfest 2015 with additional onstage abrasions being conspired.

EYEHATEGOD continues to tour in support of their chart-topping, self-titled studio offering and first full-length in nearly fifteen years. Over two-and-a-half decades, EYEHATEGOD has helped define the NOLA sound: down-tuned, blues-inflected guitars awash in furious distortion, underpinning the tormented screams of Mike IX Williams over a thundering rhythm section. Following well over a decade-and-a-half between studio albums, EYEHATEGOD reemerged stronger and more determined than ever before with 2014’s EyeHateGod. An exclamation mark on an already storied career, a statement of rebirth, catharsis, self-preservation and a sign of things to come, the album, released in North America via Housecore Records, landed at #82 on the Billboard Current Album chart, #92 on the Top 200 chart, #26 on the Rock chart, #4 on the Hard Rock chart and #12 on the Indie chart upon its first week of release! Additionally, EyeHateGod made its way to the top of year end lists globally and snagged the coveted #1 spot of Spin’s 20 Best Albums Of 2014 who issued of the release, “The self-titled slab is as nastily heavy as anything they recorded back in the ’90s, dosed with added perspective, instant-classic black-tar blues riffs, and a heady dose of vocalist Mike IX Williams’ trademark surrealist protest poetry.” The record earned the #14 position of Pitchfork’sBest Metal Albums Of 2014, who opined, “The classic New Orleans group’s first record in 14 years, which comes after Katrina and various personal tragedies, ranks with the best of their over-driven punked-up sludge blues,” while Decibel Magazine placed the record at #30 of their Top 40 Albums Of 2014 noting, “we’ve been privy to a few outstanding comeback albums lately, butEYEHATEGOD‘s scabrous mix of leaden harcore punk felt the most desperate – in the best possible way,” further applauding its, “deranged, almost possessed fervor.
EYEHATEGOD remains one of the most important extreme music acts in the world. Orders forEyeHateGod can be placed via Housecore Records HERE.
“Southern influenced, doomy, stoner metal mix of equal parts Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Trouble, Black Flag and the Melvins that many newer bands often emulate, but none can replicate,” – OC Weekly
“…the best material of their 25-year career.” – Exclaim
“…the record that EHG fans have been waiting for; a stomping and venomous set of eleven tracks that reignite the band’s amazing propensity for down-trodden, electric blues and with their late drummer LaCaze behind the kit.” – Noisey
“…in terms of consistency and sheer ‘fuck yeah’-ness this is right up there in that first tier of must-have EYEHATEGOD platters. Welcome back, boys. You earned it.” – Metal Injection
