GW Sok – founder of The EX – joins no wave, improve-punk drum noiseniks, Action Beat, on the 9th August in London for a full-on day of pounding noise. Support comes from chaotic, primal trio Trash Kit, raw noise merchants Poino and a heavy, mathy Silent Front. Longer: Action Beat return to London, this time with the legendary G.W. Sok on lead vocals. For the uninitiated, G.W. Sok founded The EX and fronted them for the best of part 30 years; naturally we’re delighted to have got these two together for this show. For those not familiar with Action Beat, their live shows have a tendency to pound onlookers with multiple drummers, guitarists and intense noise.
Also on the bill, Silent Front, who will bring their own brand of stop/start razor sharp post-hardcore. The urbane and primal Trash Kit, who draw on the potential of punk and the naturalism of and folk. Poino’s off-beat-off, avant-noise-rock provides a thunderous and choking soundscape. WEM bring a sound palate that is dark and uncompromising: at times a pounding dirge, at others ambient, spacious and meditative. Grimm Grimm is London-based acid folk solo project by Koichi Yamanoha (ex. Screaming Tea Party). Expect DJ sets from Artrocker, New Heavy Sounds and Club.The.Mammoth

ACTION BEAT ft. G.W. SOK
For the uninitiated, G.W. Sok founded and fronted the The Ex for the best of part 30 years; naturally we’re delighted to have got these two together for this show. Action Beat are an intense semi-improvised noise/no-wave punk ensemble, inspired by early Sonic Youth, The EX, Glenn Branca and other avant guitar ensembles. Based a core of five musicians, but often expanding to as many as fourteen for live shows, a normal gig will have at least three guitarists, a bassist and between one to four drummers. Action Beat, however, concentrate their excess into focused, yet ragged, grooves punctuated by bursts of screeching avant-punk noise and evil disco rhythms. Their blistering live shows are a riot of urgent punk energy and frequently descend into chaos (and sometimes semi-nakedness), so it’s not surprising that they’ve gained much recognition in the UK and Europe https://soundcloud.com/actionbeat/w-g-w-sok-spoonfeed-hell
TRASH KIT
Formed in 2009, they’ve been lighting up London, energising the UK underground with their raw performances, as well as recently touring with the The Ex. Trash Kit have a sound of their very own, it’s both urbane and primal, drawing on the potential of punk and the naturalism of an internal folk music. http://trashkitrules.blogspot.co.uk/
SILENT FRONT
