As New York City’s Jack + Eliza gear up for the September 23rd release of their debut EP No Wonders, the duo have unveiled the music video for “Secrets”. Earlier this month Noisey described Jack + Eliza’s vocals on “Secrets” as “entwined in a sun-dappled embrace akin to the harmonies of John and Michelle Phillips and Mama Cass.” The aim of the Wiissa directed video for the song as told to Nylon magazine, was “to film a perfect summer day with some pals in 1973.” Shot on Super 8 on the “timeless” shores of Montauk, NY, the video’s aesthetic ends up as much about nostalgia for simpler times as it serves as a love letter to the currently waning summer season. Jack + Eliza play Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, NY on August 23rd with further fall dates in support of their debut EP TBA.

Jack + Eliza have already drawn a healthy smattering of positive attention for their songwriting. “An exuberance of youthful energy is captured with little more than bright, clean guitar tones and the occasional tambourine chime,” wrote Consequence of Sound, while Brooklyn Vegan found much to admire in their “winsome pop”, comparing Jack + Eliza to the Beach Boys and Everly Brothers. Impose Magazine were taken by the “sweet, tranquil, tragic, and triumphant (with a dash of melancholy for good measure, why not) that plays about between [their] duets”.
The No Wonders EP was produced by Chris Zane (The Walkmen, Mumford & Sons, Passion Pit) and is suffuse with the effortlessness of youth, captured in ephemeral moments through a melodious and sun-drenched pop sound.
