June 19, 2014 –
Kieran Strange, British power punk rocker currently residing in Vancouver, Canada will be making her musical television debut with her new single,
“Tear Down The Wall.” The song has a special message that is near and dear to Strange. The single, co-written by Strange and
Amy Fox, producer of the new sitcom
The Switch, will be making its world premiere with
Bustle.
The Switch, a groundbreaking television comedy that follows the lives of several transgender individuals. Most of the cast is transgender, and all transgender characters are played by transgender actors. The TV show will “tear down the wall” of topics not normally discussed everyday, and will both entertain viewers while broadening their horizons. Be on the look out for more details soon.
Strange and Fox met through gaming groups, becoming friends shortly after through common interests, morals, and political beliefs. From there, the two created a song for Fox’s new TV show The Switch. The creation of “Tear Down The Wall” broke with Strange’s usual process in that she acted as a voice for others instead of herself. “This was a really different project for me, but different in a good way. Usually when I write, I’m taking my own feelings and creating a song. When we wrote ‘Tear Down The Wall,’ I was turning someone else’s words into lyrics, someone else’s feelings into music. I didn’t want to push any lyrics onto the trans actors or tell them how they felt. I wanted to be their voice. I wanted it to be a collaboration.”
Strange worked with the cast of The Switch to make the music video for her single “Tear Down The Wall.” Strange goes in to further detail about the product of the music video by stating, “The concept of the video is one of my favourite things about this project. There’s so much in it that LGBTQ+ people of all ages and ethnicities can relate to – being pulled aside for “random searches” in an airport, being bullied or gossiped about by people you know or strangers on the street. The Wall itself was absolutely brilliant too – it represents the “glass ceiling”, if you will, that all transgender people feel; the stereotypes, the discrimination, the judgement, and the prejudice of a society that, in a great many areas, refuses to accept them or attempt to understand them. Watching the four main cast members rip it to shreds and walk into the light on the other side was really, really satisfying.”
Although the single was released independently, Strange will also be releasing an upcoming EP this August. To view “Tear Down The Wall” music video click

For more information on Kieran Strange:
Hailed as an artist to watch both online and off by media outlets worldwide, Kieran Strange is a quirky, dynamic young artist blending pop sensibilities, edgy guitars and synthesized electronic sounds into her own personal brand of British pop-rock.
Raised on a variety of music genres above her grandmother’s pub in a small fishing village in southern England, Kieran left her family behind at the tender age of seventeen to chase her dream of making music. Since doing so, she has shared stages with the likes of Kinnie Starr, Hunter Valentine and more, lighting it up in front of audiences from 200 to 10,000 strong, all whilst singing songs about girl crushes, zombies and video games.
As she stands firmly as a voice for the different and discarded, Kieran’s die-hard fans, who are disenchanted with the mainstream sense of mind, have coined themselves “the Strangers” and their number spanning across the globe, from North America to Europe and Asia. They have already made their mark on the world by voting Miss Strange a final ballot nominee in the Shorty Awards (Twitter and social media) three years running. Kieran is fiery, verbal and passionate when it comes to her beliefs, and some of the causes she fights to help support are autism awareness, cancer research, eating disorder awareness and anti-bullying.
Hot on the heels of her debut EP Adamantine Heart, Kieran played over 200 shows, events and conventions across three continents in 2012/13, touring as far as to Japan and her home in England, as well as across Canada and the US. She has been commissioned to compose musical material for various geek and alternative lifestyle organizations across North America.
Kieran is currently working on her sophomore EP at the Hell’s Half Acre Studio in California, with legendary producer Steve Kravac (Blink 182, Less Than Jake, MXPX, NOFX). The new EP will be released on Porterhouse Records (X, Kidneys, Little Misses), with a release date of Fall 2014. “I’ve spent a lot of time trying to fit into some perfect little cookie cutter of an artist,” says Strange, “and I think the tracks I’m writing right now are about me coming out of that shell, letting down the walls, and just allowing myself to be naked without all of the armour and defenses. It’s taken me a long time to come to terms with every aspect of who I am as a person, all the negatives as well as the positives, and I’m finally ready to just be me.”
