It’s still very early, but I would bet by the time 2018 comes to a close, Lights’ We Were Here Tour will still stand out as one of the best of the year. The Canadian electronic-pop star has put together a truly incredible evening for her fans on this run. With the successful release of comic series and album, Skin&Earth, Lights has returned with an even more confident stage presence. In fact, she is so committed to the fictional world she has created that she has symbols from the series tattooed on her arms and shares the same fiery red hair color with main character, En.
“New Fears” started the set where Lights appeared only as a silhouette, dancing in front of a brightly lit LED screen. Other hits from Skin&Earth included “Moonshine,” “Skydiving,” “Giants,” and tour namesake “We Were Here.” In between displays of comic book scenes, Lights treated Philadelphia to several stripped down tracks. A re-imagined version of “Muscle Memory” served as the stand-out track of the night.
