COIN is one of those bands that is almost impossible to listen to without smiling. Although their lyrics frequently explore the awkwardness and vulnerability of love and relationships, they do so in such an upbeat tone that it’s hard to feel sad. In fact, they’ve earned a permanent spot on my “pick me up” Spotify playlist with the likes of LANY, The 1975, and WALK THE MOON. It’s not at all surprising that their headlining show in Orlando drew a massive crowd that wrapped around The Beacham hours before the band was scheduled to take the stage. The group has garnered itself such a dedicated group of fans that some even camped out in front of the venue the night before to secure a front row spot. Needless to say, the place was packed wall to wall once everyone made it inside.
After a well-received set from opener Tessa Violet, COIN came out to greet an eager audience. The stage was backdropped with a set of lights that transitioned from flashing strobes to warm tones to a rainbow, matching the mood of each song and beginning with the very popular “I Don’t Wanna Dance.” Ironically, everyone on and off stage danced the entire night, save for quieter moments such as the mellow “Malibu 1992.” Each band member’s on-stage energy is contagious and produced one of the loudest audiences I’ve heard in a 1200 capacity venue. Concluding on a high note, “Fingers Crossed” was the band’s final song during which frontman Chase Lawrence dove into a wildly enthusiastic crowd.
The tour wraps up in Los Angeles on March 1st. View the remaining dates and purchase your tickets HERE.
