LOCRIAN has announced a short run of East Coast tour dates this September, including a performance at this year’s sprawling Hopscotch Festival, in support of their newly unveiled Infinite Dissolution LP, out now on Relapse Records.
With a five-date run confirmed, LOCRIAN will begin the new tour in their partially shared home of Baltimore on September 10th, followed by shows in Philadelphia, Raleigh, Richmond and Brooklyn through September 14th. The East Coast run has been booked around LOCRIAN‘s newly-announced appearance at this year’s annual Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, which sees the band performing at Metal Lunchbox: A Hopscotch Day Party on September 12th, joined by Vattnet Viskar, MAKE and The Hem Of His Garment, the show a benefit for Fertile Ground and community agriculture.
The tour dates are the just the latest installment of news and media coverage surrounding LOCRIAN‘s new Infinite Dissolution LP, which among many other high profile features with the likes of Pitchfork, Noisey, Steel For Brains, Cvlt Nation, Treble and others, also includes a new feature at the online headquarters for great synthesizer creators, Moog Music. The spotlight showcases LOCRIAN‘s multi-instrumentalist and co-founder, Terence Hannum, and the wide array of Moog equipment he used at the Infinite Dissolution recording sessions at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio in Chicago. Celebrating their tenth anniversary in 2015, LOCRIAN delivers their most conceptually complex and textured material to date on Infinite Dissolution, the album issuing the band’s environmentalist views on mankind’s ongoing demise through our own destruction of the planet. Produced by Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles) at Steve Albini-owned/operated Electrical Audio in Chicago, mastered by Brad Boatright (Yob, Author & Punisher, Sleep) at Audiosiege in Portland, and bearing artwork based on an immense physical sculpture installation by David Altmejd, the band’s second album for Relapse Records surges with nearly fifty minutes of tortured yet stunning experimental blackened/noise-soaked industrial originality.
The band’s new video for the track “Heavy Water” is days from release, as well as the official announcements on their upcoming 10th anniversary performances.
LOCRIAN’s “Arc Of Extinction” video is playing at NPR RIGHT HERE, and Infinite Dissolution streaming in its entirety at Revolver Magazine HERE.
Infinite Dissolution is now available through Relapse Records — the CD and vinyl editions and merch bundles are available HERE, and digital via BandCamp HERE and iTunes HERE.
