Today is the official release of This Light I Hold, and Memphis May Fire is building up excitement all over the country on the Rise Up Tour. I was lucky enough to catch their packed show in Philly and feel the hype firsthand. MMF dove right into their new material, kicking off the set with “Carry On,” a song that follows a common thread in the band’s catalogue; a resistance to fit into any sort of mold the music industry pressures upon them. Memphis May Fire stands firmly and unwaveringly behind their beliefs, making them deserving of their dedicated fan-base. Known for effortlessly alternating between clean vocals and aggressive growls, Matty Mullins nailed every note on stage from heavier tracks like “The Sinner” to the softer, sentimental “Miles Away.” The tour will continue in the U.S. through next week.
