Review and photos by Brooke Sanders.
I recently had the opportunity to photograph Memphis May Fire during their stop in Austin, Texas on the All I See Is War Tour with Seven Dust, Fire from The Gods, and Madame Mayhem. The band kicked off their set with “Virus,” which is the perfect song to get the crowd going. The band brought it back to 2012 with their hit songs “Prove Me Right” and “Vices” but made sure to play some of their newer hits from 2017 such as “Carry On” and “This Light I Hold.”
I have photographed Memphis May Fire a few times in the past, and I must admit they get better every time I see them. I was not expecting this set to be as amazing as previous shows due to the limited stage room, the small-scale venue, and a placid crowd, but I was totally proven wrong. They did not let the circumstances stop them from coming out and giving their all. Matty Mullins ran out on stage with such a high energy that the crowd had no choice but to get pumped up. I overheard people in the front row saying how they had never heard of Memphis and by the end of the set they were headbanging and cheering on the band at the top of their lungs. I mean it when I say that this band never fails to impress and I seriously cannot wait to hear their new album in the near future!
