STREAM: “Night Birds”
Bay Area singer/songwriter Mike Rufo has teamed up with The Prelude Press to premiere “Night Birds”, the third track off his upcoming second solo LP Nothin’ But Now. Going right for the heartstrings with wistful violins and light, earnest guitar plucks, “Night Birds” pulls the listener in for a hug and reminds them that even in the darkest situations, love will always win.
Rufo says of the song’s lyrical theme: “This song alludes to a story of a young couple who decide not to be together yet because the world is stuck in senseless violence, separation, and injustice. They decide to turn into night birds until humanity has had a consciousness transformation that eliminates war, hunger/poverty, and injustice.”
“Ultimately, it’s about belief that a better world is possible and the comfort, love, and support that we provide to each other along the journey.”
Nothin’ But Now is set to release digitally and physically on July 15, with Rufo and fellow Muddy Paw family members Constant Coogan teaming up for a double CD release show at Doc’s Lab in San Francisco. Stay tuned for more song premieres and other special features coming soon.
