Today, Warp Records is releasing N.O.W. Is The Time, the best-of compilation from Nightmares on Wax (George Evelyn). One of Warp Records’ initial signings, Nightmares on Wax is releasing the N.O.W. Is The Time compilation in celebration of his 25-year career, which falls in tandem with Warp’s own 25th anniversary this year. Additionally, Nightmares on Wax’s set of remixes calledDeep Down: Remixes and Rarities is out today. Both full tracklists can be found below.
To ring in the release and the quarter-centennial celebration, Nightmares on Wax will head out on his largest US tour ever beginning in Seattle, WA at Neumos on June 18 and ending in Miami, FLat Grand Central on July 21. Nightmares on Wax has also released a Rollo Jackson-directed retrospective documentaryabout his career, which can be watched in its entirety HERE.
Alongside the Nightmares on Wax live tour, DJ E.A.S.E (aka George Evelyn/Nightmares on Wax) will be performing DJ sets at record stores across the US in June and July, meeting with fans and giving away posters to attendees who buy the new album. The Nightmares on Wax story is one that spans decades and genres. Evelyn (also known as DJ E.A.S.E) came up in the 80s UK B-Boy and graffiti scene enamored with New York hip-hop and was an innovator in merging those sounds and feelings with the popular sounds of the UK at that time to pioneer what became dubbed “trip-hop.” Releasing classic albums such as Smokers Delightand Carboot Soul and working with the likes of De La Soul and Roots Manuva established NOW as one of the definitive purveyors of hip-hop, funk, dub and soul. 25 years on, his fanbase is still growing.
