It has been such a long time coming. I have loved Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for quite some time now. Everything from the music to the vibe right down to the messages and persona. Their team has built up quite an artistic monument for our era that I truly respect and appreciate.
I have known Eric Nally personally for even longer. I’ve watched his previous band Foxy Shazam through their ups and downs, shared stages with them, and now I currently collaborate and work with the majority of the band on different levels with their new endeavors.
Eric is a true artist, lover of art and also a dear friend of mine that really opened up my eyes and brought out a new appreciation for many things on many levels that I had previously overlooked. Yes, it may have required many nights of just barely spewing out thoughts over bottles of champagne, but he is a man full of precise visions yet is completely open to the visions of others. He can perform anything, but at the same time would only do it if he were truly passionate about it. Although this may have caused him to miss many opportunities, deep down, he knows that the right cards will always fall into the right place.
That said, I am beyond thrilled that someone like Macklemore saw this genuine talent, and decided to pursue it by having Eric featured on not only the single “Downtown” but also the incredible music video. As I said, it has been a long time coming, and now we get to sit back and watch the birth of a legend! Now where’s that champagne and popcorn?
