London-based punk rock troubadourRob Lynch has released a new single titled “Whiskey” from his forthcoming album, All These Nights In Bars Will Somehow Save My Soul. Being released on Tuesday, September 22through Xtra Mile Recordings (Against Me!, Frank Turner, Mineral), Lynch’s debut album is full of potential sing-along favorites despite its often-weighty and emotionally-driven content. Such is the case with “Whiskey,” Lynch’s brand new single released today that recalls an evening spent with his late father. “This is a song about a night my father and I had together where we drank too much whiskey and played each other our favorite songs,” Lynch says of the track. “He died when I was 21, and when I first went to visit him in hospital, I was walking down the corridor towards his ward and I could hear him telling the other patients around him the story about that night we had.”
Lynch just recently performed on the entire run of this year’s Vans Warped Tour and is gearing up for his own headlining tour in support of the album in the UK. All These Nights In Bars Will Somehow Save My Soul is now available for pre-order through iTunes HERE and through Xtra Mile Recordings HERE.
Not one to shy away from the rigors of the road, Rob Lynch has been busy carving out his niche in bars and venues across the UK and also in Germany where he’s sold out many shows, played Reeperbahn Festival and even appeared at the legendary St Pauli FC souvenir store. Other notable festival appearances for Lynch, even before he had management, agent or label on board, have included Download, Slam Dunk (UK), Groezrock (BE) and Fest here in the U.S.
Between November 2012 and August 2013, Lynch took time out to record tracks in Philadelphia with Shane Henderson (Valencia) and Hoxton, East London with Sam Duckworth that would go on to make up his full-length album. The result was an unbelievably honest and intimate record, which would eventually be christened All These Nights In Bars Will Somehow Save My Soul, a 12-track journey tackling such themes as the death of his father, life on the road and finding light in times of darkness. As Rob himself says, opener “31/32” is “a call to arms about enjoying the moment we’re living in.” From the sing-along lilt of recent single “My Friends & I” to the therapeutic mellowness “Medicine” and unassuming tearjerker “Widow,” this is an album that tells many a story of sadness and regret but always with an underlying sense of positivity and hope.
