“I really like this band and its attitude – party-friendly but with a serious side.” – Bob Boilen (NPR Music)

“The Brooklyn-based band mixes dynamics with studied aplomb: pounding drums, warped synth scratches, and a bold horn section are wedded to singer Kalmia Traver’s conversational, lilting singing style, which altogether create the perfect soundtrack for these surreal escapades. It’s baroque pop of the extremely epic variety.”–Noisey
Rubblebucket was formed after Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth met while attending The University of Vermont. Following graduation, the two were joined by Adam Dotson (trombone, euphonium, vocals), David Cole (drums) and Ian Hersey (electric guitar) and released their self-titled debut in 2009. The group’s second full-length, Omega La La,brought the band to new heights and saw the band make their late night TV debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in 2012. Released at the tail end of this past summer, Survival Sounds is the band’s third full-length and label debut. The album’s 2014 release was just one highlight from an incredible year that had the Brooklyn based outfit playing to their largest audiences yet, saw Surivial Sounds featured by The New York Times “Press Play”, and their song “Carousel Ride” named as one of NPR Music‘s top 50 songs of the year. The band were also granted the humbling opportunity to contribute to Yep Roc’s Arthur Russell tribute (Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell) alongside Jose Gonzalez, Hot Chip, Robyn, Sufjan Stevens, Phosphorescent, and other great artists.
