CLIFTON, NJ | 10.20.16: Ohio rock band THE SKULX kicked off their Merry Halloween Tour with a perfectly rawkus show at Clash Bar in Clifton, New Jersey this passed Thursday. With support from WILL WOOD AND THE TAPEWORMS, SUPER SNAKE, and COMB THE DESERT, they made a Thursday evening feel more like Saturday night.
Fans packed into the north Jersey institution dressed head-to-toe in their most fabulous Halloween costumes, from Sims characters to Jesus, a handful of convicts to a band full of police officers. The Skulx drummer, Lex Vegas even joined in on the fun with a wonderfully accurate Will Wood costume – Wood later lamented that Vegas was a better Will Wood than he was.
Having taken a short hiatus from tour life, The Skulx were rearing to go once their set time rolled around. They delighted the crowd with a few fun covers (done, of course, in The Skulx signature style), as well as several songs off of their self-titled debut album such as, “Do What You Do,” “Big Bam,” and “Suckin’ On Stars.”
The set was brimming with energy that (quite literally) overflowed from the stage, with guitarists Mathew Franklin and Josh Pilot venturing into the crowd on several occasions – the perfectly sideburned cherry on top of a pristine performance. As per usual, these guys left the crowd wanting for nothing – except, perhaps, a few more songs.
If you missed THE SKULX at Clash Bar, you still have a few more opportunities! See below for a full list of tour dates, and be sure to catch them at least once!
