The SX mission is to make the world a little sexier and debuted with a bold promise: Your Drink. Sexier! To accomplish this, the company delivers Latin liquors infused with sensual and exotic ingredients to deliver the ultimate taste experience. The “S” in SX’s name stands for Sensual and the “X” comes from eXotic, and the drinks and contoured bottles from which they pour are both. SX spirits are named after passionate dances (Samba, Calypso and Cha-Cha-Cha), and the company strives to capture Latin style and soul. SX’s original line of premium spirits included SXchachacha (Featured in Songz video for “Slow Motion”), 100% blue agave reposado tequila with a hint of honey and the exotic bite of Mexican lemons. The company also debuted with a pair of rums: SXcalypso, aged rum spiced with mint and Caribbean lemons and SXsamba, cachaca-style rum with sweet limes and smooth vanilla. SX has continued to grow and expand winning a gold medal for best tequila after being selected from among 1,106 products from 61 countries at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It’s also been featured at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, the Miami Wine and Spirits Expo, The Nightclub & Bar Show in Las Vegas, and numerous other events.
S.O.B.’s, also known as Sounds of Brazil, was opened by owner and director Larry Gold in June 1982. Gold opened the venue with the purpose of exposing the musical wealth and heritage of the Afro-Latino Diaspora to as many people as possible. True to its mission, it has become renowned as the premiere venue not only for World Music, but all genres, in New York City and the world over. In its early days, SOBs existed on a barren stretch at the corner of Varick and Houston Streets, but the area soon became the trendy neighborhood of SoHo and the venue’s reputation began to grow with performances from Latin legends like Tito Puente, Marc Anthony, Celia Cruz & Eddie Palmieri. The tradition of Brazilian artists has been nothing short of incredible. Legends like Seu Jorge, Ben Jorge & Astrud Gilberto have all graced the stage of the venue which gained its namesake from their native country. In terms of the the new latin sound, the list only gets more impressive with names like Isaac Delgado, Orquesta Aragon, Los Papines, Manolito Simonet, Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro & Los Van Van.
Over the course of its 28 years in business, SOBs has also developed a reputation in the music industry as a breeding ground for emerging artists and trends. For newer performers, a show at SOBs can be the springboard for their careers, garnering them press from mainstream local, national and even international publications as well as attracting attention from music industry professionals. This has been the true with uncounted artists, including John Legend, Erykah Badu, Kanye West, Common, Drake & Ryan Leslie. The venue gives more established artists the opportunity to connect with their fans on a personal level, due to its unique, intimate setting . Today the SOBs draws both local and international crowds and continues to specialize in Latin music, Haitian, Brazilian, Caribbean, R&B, Hip-Hop and World music. It exists as a unique place to experience the lively sounds from all types of cultures within the global diaspora, a fact reflective in its slogan the “Home of Universal Music”.
With SX now partnering with the venue to provide their premium line of spirits, it seems to be the perfect combination of a company which strives to embody the true essence of Latin passion and style with a hot-spot that harnesses the same values by way of live music and entertainment! You won’t want to miss this incredible launch of SX at S.O.B.’s this Saturday night, 1/23, 11PM at 204 Varick St, New York, NY 10014 (with an OPEN BAR being offered 12-1AM)!
TREY SONGZ
Over the past ten years, no one has better blended the sounds of hip-hop, R&B and pop better than the Grammy-nominated international superstar Trey Songz. With “TRIGGA”, Trey Songz crafted his most intimate album yet, an honest and courageous set that more than confirms his status as the undisputed master of modern R&B, pop, and soul. Trey’s sixth studio collection, “TRIGGA” follows 2012’s blockbuster “CHAPTER V,” which burst onto the top of the Billboard 200 chart upon its initial release, fueled by such hit singles like “Heart Attack” and “Simply Amazing.”
Currently on the road with Chris Brown and Tyga for the “Between The Sheets Tour,” Trey is gearing up to release his next project “TRIGGA RELOADED” early Spring in the midst of joining Nicki Minaj on the European leg of her “Pinkprint Tour.”
Combined, this Virginian powerhouse has sold more than 20 million albums and singles, and yet shows no sign of slowing down.
His greatness doesn’t end there. Music is only one of his many passions. The “Angels With Heart Foundation” is an organization Trey founded in 2010. It began as a call to action to engage his fan club and has now become a worldwide movement. Through this foundation, Trey encourages members to give back and, most importantly, have a positive impact in their neighborhood through community service with local charities and random acts of kindness.
Trey has recently unveiled early details of his own upcoming spirit brand, SX Liquor. SX – that is, Sensual and Exotic – will feature six unique flavors, including two tequilas, two rums, and two vodkas.
Alongside these, he’s graced the big screen in several films including Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D and Baggage Claim starring Paula Patton. Trey knows he can entertain in many ways, but it always comes back to music.
The late Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records, once professed Trey to be “among the most promising R&B artists we have had on Atlantic since we started the company 60 years ago,” and so far he is sticking true to just that.
