The Lonely Wild Stream New Single; Announce Album Details and SXSW Dates

Stream: “Running” via Consequence Of Sound or SoundCloud

Consequence of Sound has premiered “Running” the new single from The Lonely Wild. “Running” is a, “a heavy-hearted cross-examination of life’s failures, but ends on a hopeful message of “don’t stop running.” says Consequence of Sound. The track is the first glimpse listeners get of Chasing White Light, The Lonely Wild’s self-proclaimed “death album.” The song unfolds in short movements alternating between orchestral strings and voice, with lyrics that call into question the nature of existence. Perception and reality are contrasted when Andrew Carroll and Jessi Williams ask one another, “Did I catch you dreaming, even believing you were alive?” Williams then searches for answers in fate. She sings, “Did you write the story? Are we the actors on the stage?” Things then reach the atomic level, as they sing together, “Pull back the curtain. See how the smallest things collide just to make us, in a dream for white light.” Perhaps god is a human dream, but death remains the great mystery. As “Running” accelerates to its climax, they cry, “Did you keep your promise? Or was your promise what you gave to see the great unveiling, where there’s nothing left to save?” By the end, Carroll and Williams shout, “Don’t stop running!” They plead with desperation–their lives depend on this.

The Los Angeles-based quintet just finished recording their sophomore album, Chasing White Light, their most ambitious album to date. Working with producer John Vanderslice at his famed Tiny Telephone studios in San Francisco, the band recorded and mixed strictly to analog tape in an effort to capture the magic of a bygone era of rock ‘n’ roll that inspires their sound.

In 2011 The Lonely Wild emerged as a band of multi-instrumentalists whose writing and arranging talents were only surpassed by their ability to work seamlessly as a singular, dynamic voice. Pulling from 1960’s western cinema, Laurel Canyon vocal stylings, and the adventurous spirit of The British Invasion, The Lonely Wild pushed these sounds to new uncharted territories and achieved the contradictory feat of reminding listeners of something they had never heard.

Their 2012 debut EP, Dead End, laid the foundation for their 2013 full-length follow-up, The Sun As It Comes, which propelled them to the national stage touring with musicians such as John Doe, Damien Rice, The Elected, Laura Marling, Lord Huron and earned support from tastemaker radio stations across the country, including KCRW, The Current, Nashville’s WRLT and KDHX in St. Louis.
