Melbourne, FL – April 30, 2020 – Nonprofit To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) just launched its 3rd Annual Black and White campaign to honor Mental Health Awareness Month (May). This year, it revolves around three statements the organization believes are “non-negotiable” and “black and white.”
The three statements the nonprofit will highlight and explore throughout the month include: “We Need Your Presence, Not Your Perfection”; “Hope Remains”; and “No One Else Can Play Your Part.”
When asked about the importance of the campaign, TWLOHA Co-Executive Director Lindsay Kolsch shared: “We believe conversations about mental health are needed now more than ever. We’re in a moment where people are talking about their anxiety, depression, or grief more openly, and in a way that invites awareness to grow. The Black and White campaign will encourage the honesty of those conversations, and this movement of hope and help, to expand and continue into this new world.”
People can participate and support by purchasing shirts featuring the three statements, reading the blog, joining the month-long conversation on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook (@TWLOHA), and listening to special “Black and White” mini-episodes of the TWLOHA podcast. Supporters can also visit the TWLOHA blog every Monday and Tuesday throughout the month to read pieces that will explore eight different mental health challenges.
Since its start in 2006, TWLOHA has donated over $2.6 million directly into treatment, traveled more than 3.4 million miles to meet people face-to-face at nearly 3,000 events, and has responded to over 210,000 messages from over 100 countries. Each month, they connect with 8.5 million people online through social media and their FIND HELP Tool fields 5,000 searches made by people seeking affordable, local mental health resources.
In addition to this year’s Black and White campaign, TWLOHA is hosting its 8th Annual Run For It 5k on Saturday, May 16, 2020. The event centers on the importance of caring for both our physical and mental health. People are invited to participate by moving wherever they are for things that matter-like hope, recovery, or in memory of a loved one.
