BE ONE OF THE FIRST TO LISTEN TO SOLAR BLOOM’S “SUNDAY GAMES”:
Track Premiere: “Sunday Games” by Solar Bloom explores the relatable theme of prioritizing video games over face-to-face socializing, a resonant experience for today’s Gen Z. The narrative follows a casual weekend gamer navigating the delicate balance between real-world responsibilities and leisure, offering a light-hearted perspective on the contemporary struggle to manage digital and physical connections.
Solar Bloom, the musical identity of artist Matt DeVoti, delivers a captivating fusion of influences in the latest release, “Sunday Games.” Drawing from the early sounds of Vampire Weekend and incorporating percussive elements reminiscent of Paul Simon’s Graceland, Solar Bloom navigates the realm of genre-bending musical exploration.
The inception of “Sunday Games” saw Matt DeVoti crafting the initial demo in his home studio, showcasing his skills as a producer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist. Playing all instruments except drums, DeVoti laid the groundwork for a track that would evolve into a collaboration. Enter Joey Papa, a producer and drummer for the band Human Zoo. Papa not only lent his expertise as the co-producer and mixer but also worked with Solar Bloom to craft the intricate drum arrangement, seamlessly blending digital and analog elements.
This collaboration between Solar Bloom and Joey Papa traces its roots to the vibrant indie scene of New York and New Jersey which includes artists such as Will Wood, That Handsome Devil, Human Zoo, and Jariah. The two artists first crossed paths at a live show, and their musical partnership blossomed from there. The outcome is a musical journey that captures the essence of Solar Bloom’s genre-defying style, marrying indie-pop sensibilities with rhythmic complexity inspired by their musical predecessors.
