‘You Blue It’ Weezer Tribute Out Digitally on July 15 and on Vinyl August 12; Band On U.S. Summer Tour with Say Anything, The Front Bottoms and The So So Glos
Orlando, FL’s You Blew It! are premiering their cover of Weezer’s “My Name Is Jonas” on USA Today. The track appears on their upcoming 5-track Weezer covers EP titled, You Blue It.
Frontman/guitarist Tanner Jones tells USA Today, “To say that My Name Is Jonas is an imperfect song would be the biggest lie of all time and is probably the easiest way to out yourself as a clear poseur. This made covering it very tough. After hours of pulling our hair out, we realized that altering it just for the sake of change might be borderline sacrilegious. For good conscience, we decided to keep the song as is, and bow our heads in respect for a song that begs nothing but tribute.”
Topshelf Records will release the You Blue It EP digitally on July 15, followed by a vinyl release on August 12.
You Blue It was engineered by Matt Wilbur and Matt Burns and produced by Wilbur, Burns, and You Blew It. It was recorded at Vanguard Room in Lakeland, FL and mastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Mastering.
Physical copies of You Blue It are currently sold out Topshelf but the digital version is available for pre-order on iTunes.
