EXCLUSIVE : Papa Roach live show review and photos!

Sifting through the crowded space of Terminal 5 in order to get a better view of the stage in anticipation of Papa Roach’s set it was clear that most of the people here were them. Joined by Seether, Kyng, and Islanders on this tour this show is not to be missed by those who just are nostalgic of that heavy grungy rock and roll feeling.

Many bands lately have been around for almost a decade now if not more, and the latest trend has been to celebrate the 10th anniversary of which every record allowed them to break into mainstream success. However, it is clear that Papa Roach is here to reinvent themselves and hail 2015 as their comeback year.

Their setlist to some may feel like a greatest hits set list with songs such as “Getting Away With Murder”and “Scars”as well as “…To Be Loved”, all which were huge success when released and critical to the core identity of the band, but to a fan this is the show that every one wanted to go see. Singing in the crowd with other Papa Roach fans every single song of the setlist and have it meaning something as a collective is a much different experience and one that would awe anyone.

However, they also played two songs that are to be released on their new album coming out on the 27th, F.E.A.R. The first song of the show and first song off the album “Face Everything And Rise” displays the old Papa Roach DNA of nu-metal but showing growth and understanding of their fans that they aren’t no longer teenagers filled with angst but rather now a different generation and filled with different fears and anxieties.

Their second song off the new album played live was “Broken As Me”. While not a major popular single that had been released and half the crowd not knowing what was the lyrics were they still managed to pick up the chorus with Jacoby encouraging on, and for a new song he managed to pull off an incredible feat in feeding off the crowd and playing it back at them.

While Papa Roach may have become irrelevant in many peoples eyes and forgotten as evident by some of my friends comments when I told them whose show I was going to be attending that night, and with the album The Connection also never really making a connection with the fans except for one song which had the core DNA of the band, one thing was certain after the show had ended. 2015 is the year of the Roach. With the revival of the post-hardcore scene becoming more apparent, Papa Roach brings back the nu-metal and with a vengeance. And as with the namesake of the tour, song and album, they are ready to face everything and rise.

If you have ever wanted to witness hell on earth while listening to Papa Roach then I implore you to attend one of the remaining dates on this tour and see yourself in the pit. Be part of the latest defining chapter of the bands life, but most importantly F.E.A.R.
