SBN: You played the Ernie Ball Stage here in Mansfield, MA last year and returned this year to do your first Warped tour run – how is it going as a full tour, as opposed to last year being a single show?

Lynn Gunn: Well we’ve just been on for two weeks, but we’re actually on the tour now, so it’s definitely been a crazy experience being here today – where we played the Ernie Ball stage last year and then actually being on the tour at this point. It’s been a little bit of a wake up call, you’re like “whoa!” so yeah, definitely feels pretty accomplished.

SBN: You’re having a huge year with a lot of exciting news. I heard you have a new album coming out later fall – is there anything new you can share about it – what direction you’re going in, does it have a name?

L.G.: It doesn’t have a name; we haven’t officially named it yet but we kind of want to keep it without a name so we might just label it “One” (laughs) just like our number one, it’ll make people be like “what?” and listen.

SBN: You ran your first national tour earlier this year now followed by Warped. For young bands, what are some the major do’s and don’ts for tour life that you’ve learned?

IL.G.: Introduce yourself to the promoter, make friends with them, don’t get on their bad side. Make friends with the sound guy as he’ll make you sound good! Do bring baby powder, dry shampoo and baby wipes cause you don’t get to shower a lot. Don’t show up to your shows late… don’t be an idiot… I dunno kinda common sense stuff! Definitely appreciate the crew that you have with you at every venue, that’s a big thing.

SBN: Although things are going really well for you now, you’ve had your share of struggles including the legal issues regarding your name. It previously was “Paris” and now you’ve changed it to be PVRIS with the V. What would you tell bands that run into similar issues, be it with their name or other legal issues? How did you handle that and what advice would you give?

L.G.: Well, we were just told we had to change it somehow so we wouldn’t get sued basically. So we were like okay, we’ll make an upside down A and make it a V, so that was our little solution to it. With other bands, you could always do stuff like that… but any other legal issues definitely get a lawyer. You don’t want to get screwed over, lose a bunch of money and never play music again. Our managers know a good team of different music lawyers so we lucked out and didn’t have to stress about it too much.

SBN: What has been your favorite part of Warped tour so far?

L.G.: I like the catering believe it or not! A lot of people complain about it but I really like it! And… [about Warped] it’s all day, and there’s so many people and you get to meet everybody on the tour; there’s always something to do everyday. I haven’t even caught half of the bands on the tour, so always stuff to do!

SBN:Least favorite aspects of Warped?

L.G.: Well we’re doing this little run in a van. So it’s been kinda rough; it’s been really crowded as we have like nine people with us… so other than that, it’s my only complaint… and the heat and sun, I keep getting sunburnt over and over! But that’s about it.

SBN: Have you discovered any new favorite bands while on Warped?

L.G.: Hm; well I already knew about them, but it just reaffirmed my love for them – Bad Rabbits for sure. K.Flay is great. There’s a couple of other bands that people keep telling me to check out and I keep missing their sets. I think one was Air Dubai – we walked by the other day when they were playing and it was really cool. Think those are my tops!

SBN: Finally, to wrap – being a young band yourself who has done it – advice to other bands that really want to play Warped?

L.G.: Bust your ass! That’s all I have to say! [laughs]

Much thanks to Lynn for taking the time to speak with us! PVRIS just announced a fall tour with Mayday Parade, Tonight Alive & Major League. Check their Facebook for details!
