“Simply put, it is a brokenhearted love song, albeit one that has its own soul.” – Interview Magazine
NYC’s Jeremy & The Harlequins are back with a new single called “There’s a Girl,” featuring the vocals of actor John Magaro (Orange is the New Black, Unbroken). The track has a Velvet Underground meets the Everly Brothers kind of sound, and Interview Magazine refers to it as “a brokenhearted love song, albeit one that has its own soul.” Additionally, the band’s debut album American Dreamer, released in February, is currently holding steady on CMJ’s Top 200.
Jeremy didn’t have to look far to enlist Magaro in his project, since the two are cousins and both reside in the New York City area. “Jeremy is my cousin, mi famiglia, and we come from a family where music has always been important,” says Magaro on the recent collaboration. “When Jeremy moved to New York we would jam at Renegade Studios. I played drums and Jeremy sang and played guitar. One day we started messing with Everly Brothers tunes. That all lead up to this track.”
“I wrote this song literally the day after my last girlfriend broke up with me,” explains vocalist & founder Jeremy Fury. “Most of the tunes I write aren’t as autobiographical, but this one happens to be an exception to the rule.”
Fans can expect more new material to be released in the coming months, along with a handful of tour dates to be announced soon. For more information on Jeremy & the Harlequins, be sure to follow the band on Facebook and Twitter.
