Allie X Announces First U.S. Tour, “Sanctuary” And “Bitch” Videos Of First-Ever Live Show

“You know Allie X already: she’s the weird girl with the best shoes – who everyone else secretly wishes they were brave enough to befriend, bitch.”  V Magazine

Los Angeles, CA – July 13, 2015 – The enigmatic Allie X is bringing her “Doing X” tour” to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Brooklyn. X will give a live performance of her bold, critically acclaimed debut release, CollXtion I, at each show. The trio of dates mark the Toronto-born, Los Angeles-based artist’s first-ever U.S. shows and will follow performances at three Canadian events: Ottawa Bluesfest, the Pemberton Music Festival and Flaunt Fashion Show. See below for itinerary. Tickets are available HERE.

Described as “your friendly neighborhood dark-popstar” (Noisey), “pop music’s new surrealist” (FADER) and a “defiant and bright beacon in a saturated world of pre-packaged pop and musical beige” (Clash Magazine), X recently made her live debut at the Phi Centre in Montreal, a versatile space designed to foster encounters and exchanges between artists, the work and the audience. Today X unveiled live videos of SANCTUARY” and “BITCH,” which were shot on the first night of her two-week, multi-disciplinary residency at the Phi Centre.

“SANCTUARY” and “BITCH” are from CollXtion I, which also includes “CATCH,” the song that introduced the world to Allie X. She first unleashed “CATCH” upon an unsuspecting SoundCloud in early 2014 and almost immediately found a fervent online fan following. Among their numbers was Katy Perry, who described herself as “obsessed” with the track in a tweet to her 51+ million Twitter followers.

Pitchfork hailed “CATCH” as a “relentless and immediate sugar rush with a slight metallic aftertaste. It’s a glorious kiss-off as well as quite the introduction.” Idolator praised the track as “everything that’s wonderful about under-the-radar pop music right now: immaculate hooks, pristine synth work, vocal versatility, bold atmospherics and a beating, bursting heart” while Time Magazine said it “shines with a level of polish and craft that’s remarkable given its lack of precedent.”

Allie X comes on like a corrupted Mouseketeer gone wrong: a sickly-sweet and girlish voice dripping syrupy poison in your ear and making Miley Cyrus seem as dangerous as Katie Melua,” proclaimed NME and NYLON tipped her as one of the “minty-fresh musical acts that already have us screaming ‘Encore!” in its July music issue.

CollXtion I, which is available HERE, allows participants to gather songs, videos, digital installations and other media that begin to fashion the world of a protagonist known as “X.”  Designed as both a multimedia, narrative and collaborative experience, CollXtion I is accompanied by a variety of features, including X’s notorious spinning GIFs, some of the raw components used by X to create her striking work such as song stems and photo layers, and a comic that reveals the first chapter in the Story of X. Fans are encouraged to become participants in X’s world by using these elements to make their own “Xart,” which is featured in X’s “Xhibit” digital gallery HERE
