Axes – Glory / Released 3rd Nov (BSM)

Axes are a four piece based in London hailing from Essex, Scotland, Iran and Denmark, whose members collectively have been playing in math and punk rock bands for over 40 years!

Formed in March 2011, they’ve been steadily carving out their own euphoric math punk niche in the sometimes murky, overpopulated waters of instrumental rock. Their fast paced, high energy, ‘million riffs a minute’ aural assault, always performed with infectious smiles and bags of boisterous on-stage chemistry, is a breath of fresh air.

Signed to Big Scary Monsters in November 2012, they released their debut self titled mini album in April 2013. This led to BBC Radio 1 Airplay, support slots with the likes of Owls, Lite, Minus The Bear, Tera Melos, Listener, Anamanaguchi and Bosnian Rainbows and spots at festivals such as ArcTanGent, 2000 Trees, The Great Escape, Truck and Incubate. Axes live shows have since built up a reputation as being the epitome of fun, being described as a celebration of the sheer joy of making music.

‘Glory’, their 2nd album, is released through Big Scary Monsters (and Stiff Slack in Japan) on 3rd November 2014. With a genuinely eclectic array of influences ranging from thrash to emo to r & b, the band promise to leave no genre unexplored. The album release will coincide with a 2 week tour throughout the UK and Europe. This is a show not to be missed!
