About Bad Luck:

Punk band Bad Luck from Daytona Beach, FL started out as a side project for brothers Dom and Joe Fox. Originally hailing from Long Island, NY, the Fox family moved to Florida in 2008, where the brothers met future Bad Luck drummer Jake Kneer in their high school hallways, and later were introduced to guitarist Evan Blaine through various musical projects. While only Evan grew up in a musical environment, all four members agree that it was their favorite bands that inspired them to start playing, rather than an individual person or event. Collectively, the band cites their influences as covering a range of rock music; everyone from The Beatles, to Nirvana, to Weezer has had an impact on Bad Luck’s sound.

Dom wrote and recorded the first Bad Luck record, a 6-track acoustic EP titled Friends, in 2011, with the help of his brother and a friend back in New York. By summer 2012, their old band had broken up, and Dom decided to focus his efforts on Bad Luck. Though he originally planned to tackle the project as a solo effort with backup live players, it wasn’t long before Jake and Joe got involved, and pretty soon, Evan joined as guitarist and backup singer.

After gathering a following in the Florida music scene, the group eventually captured the attention of Tragic Hero Records, who signed the band in 2014. Bad Luck soon entered the studio with Brett Romnes (drummer for I Am the Avalanche) and platinum producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank, Something Corporate) to record the re-issue of their critically acclaimed debut album, Cold Bones.

The media is already buzzing about Cold Bones, with songs streaming on such sites as Guitar World and The AV Club, among others. “If you dig the blue-collar, lived in punk rock of The Gaslight Anthem, well, then say ‘hello’ to Bad Luck, your new favorite band,” says ARTISTdirect of the track “Graphic Novel(s).” “We dare and challenge you to shake the song’s anthemic, singalong chorus from your brain! Try it, but it’ll prove futile. It’s that damn hooky.”

Bad Luck is looking to the future as they embark on this new chapter in their career. “We’re just four best friends who genuinely love writing songs and playing music together,” says Dom. “And we want it to be our jobs until we’re old and dead because there’s nothing that we’ve ever loved, grown from, or understood more in our lives.”
