BETTER OFF PREMIERES NEW SONG “DRESSER DRAWER” VIA USA TODAY COLLEGE

AUG 13 – Today, Equal Vision Records’ Better Off has partnered with USA Today College for the premiere of the band’s intense new song “Dresser Drawer”. The track can be heard HERE, where it’s been described as “intimate and inspiring”.

“The song was initially going to be about Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks,” shares vocalist/guitarist Luke Granered. “But somewhere in the process of writing that song, I started dating my current girlfriend who is one of the most important people in my life. So it developed into a love song for her. But, to avoid the sappy lame love song stereotypes, I used suicide and discussing depression as a metaphor. Love can be in dark places and I think that’s something special when it gets discovered.”

He explains the grim analogy sharing, “The first line of the chorus – ‘Blew all your brains out on my lawn’ – is supposed to be a metaphor for getting to know someone more intimately, and growing a deeper connection by knowing them as a person. And suicide can be a dark secret in a lot of people’s lives, and I think that the thought of that is shocking to many, but also can be a point of connection to a lot of people because they understand the darkness of feeling that depression. Although it is a sad thing, when you can find people that overcome that sort of thing, you can find a deeper connection and be more in touch with their emotions and with your own emotions, as long as you have surpassed it healthily.”

The Nashville, TN-based outfit will release their sophomore full-lengthMilk, on September 11, via Equal Vision Records. The album was produced by Arun Bali (of Saves The Day), engineered/mixed by Matt McClellan (Being As An Ocean, Better Off), and mastered by Kris Crummett (The Early November, The Story So Far).

Better Off has just wrapped up a tour with Basement, Whirr, and LVL UP and will next head out with Bayside and The Early November. All upcoming tour dates can be found below.
