CHAPPO Premieres New Music Video Via NPR ‘First Watch’

Votiv Music and New York City-based indie-rock band CHAPPO have released the music video for the band’s new single “Hang On.” Directed and conceived by GHOST+COW (John Carlucci & Brandon LaGanke) and premiering via NPR Music “First Watch,” the clip follows a crashed space traveler from another time (played by frontman Alex Chappo) who spends his last hours wandering New York City among its millions of inhabitants. Stranded and mystified, he feels the magnitude of loneliness and awe as he searches for a place to expire. “Hang On” is taken from the band’s brand new full-length album, Future Former Self (on iTunes), which is a cosmic body of work where the members of CHAPPO explore the abstract nature of time and the experience it has on the perception of reality. In CHAPPO’s world, the concept of time is twisted hopelessly out of focus. Like Rene, the character at the center of this interstellar journey that is Future Former Self, the band seems to have recently traveled back from a distant black hole, bringing with them a kaleidoscope of new and mesmerizing sounds. CHAPPO are currently on tour supporting Future Former Self. Continuing tomorrow night in St. Louis, MO at Demo, the tour will take in 23 more evenings across the U.S. and Canada, visiting major markets such as Atlanta GA on June 4, Chicago, IL on June 12, Philadelphia, PA on June 18, Los Angeles, CA on July 16, Austin, TX on July 23, and culminate in a performance at The Crocodile in Seattle, WA on Sunday, August 2. Tickets and more information on the upcoming tour can be found via CHAPPO’s official homepage, http://www.chappomusic.com.

CHAPPO was born in the East Village of New York in 2009 and in a few short years has created an enthusiastic and rambunctious following. Splitting the difference between the guitar-driven psychedelia of ’60s west coast rock and the spiritual witch doctor moonshine of Dr. John, they regularly turn their live show into nothing short of spectacle. After releasing a pair of EP’s Plastique Universe and Plastique Universe II: Pisces Princess in 2010 and 2011, they signed with Majordomo records to release their full-length debut, Moonwater, in 2012. With the band’s new album, Future Former Self, out now, CHAPPO will be making the following North American appearances in support of it this summer. Tour dates below.
