The Loft is a relatively small venue at the top of The Chance Theater on Crannel Street in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The show opened with a band called Future Crooks from San Diego, CA (signed with Bad Timing Records), who I had never heard of before. The lead singer was pretty funny, & the band played some good music. They only played a few songs but I would definitely be interested in seeing them again & strongly recommend everyone to give them a listen!

Daisyhead, who I specifically came out to see, went on next. They are a band from Nashville, TN signed with No Sleep Records and just released their album, The Smallest Light, this past March. I have been going to shows since I was probably 13-years-old and I have never met a more talented and humble group of guys. The band was put together by original drummer, and current guitarist, Curtis Durard, accompanied by bassist Zach Chiarizzio,  drummer Tate Mercer, and lead singer & guitarist Michael Roe. They all are extremely skilled at what they do and it shows greatly, especially through this past live performance Friday night. I’ve previously interviewed Roe after hearing Daisyhead on their split EP with Have Mercy, and was immediately drawn by the music and lyrical content.

Their set list consisted of:

1. The Smallest Light

2. Defenselessness

3. Neck

4. Wonder

5. The Halt

6. Lead

7. Take

Both ‘Wonder’ and ‘Neck’ took the cake in my opinion, but I was pretty bummed they didn’t play my favorite song, ‘East Bend’, which Roe says is a reflection of his relationship growing up with his mother.

The band put on an engaging and impressive performance and I encourage everyone to check them out on their current tour! (see dates below)
