Houston, TX | May 21, 2015 – The Texas-bred pop-rock band, Fox & Cats, have perfected the nostalgic sound of your favorite hometown hero bands by creating songs they call “deeply honest, straight-up rock and roll with emotion and passion.” The group incorporated their passion for both music and NASA in a fun space-themed music video for their single “Black Hole,” which comes from their album Ampersand. When asked about the inspiration behind the single and video Willems shared, “We chose to release this song as the single because we felt it was one of the more catchy songs on the record. We knew we wanted to make a music video to go along with whatever song we chose to be the single and ‘Black Hole”‘has this punky, care-free attitude about it that we knew would make for a fun shoot to work with.”

Today the band has partnered with Substream to premiere their new video for “Black Hole,”which fans can watch here: http://bit.ly/1cQ3qzP

ABOUT FOX & CATS:

Hailing from Houston, Texas, emerging rock band Fox & Cats possess a certain charm. With the name stemming from an inside joke about Megan Fox and cats, the band was formed by best friends Josh Willems and Nicole Wigginton in the summer of 2011. The duo sport a sound described by vocalist/lyricist/guitarist Josh Willems as “Deeply honest, straight-up rock & roll with emotion and passion.” The two musicians site Say Anything, Manchester Orchestra, and The Early November as key influences and inspirations, and Fox & Cats seamlessly incorporates those influences with original ideas. Drummer Nicole Wigginton explains the band’s aspirations: “We’re very ambitious as people and as artists. We want to take Fox & Cats as far as we possibly can. Artistically, we strive to create music that will appeal to a wide spectrum of listeners while staying true to music we love and are passionate about.”

2013 saw the duo record their debut release with Kory Gable (Punchline, I Call Fives, Major League) in Atlanta. Willems explains, “I wrote towards the EP for what felt like my entire life. I write because it’s cathartic – if I can take a bad situation and turn it into a good song, then those feelings aren’t wasted. I’m an emotionally driven person so that definitely shines through in my lyrics. Nicole and I both appreciate high energy in music, both on records and in live performances, so that was something we wanted to have with our debut release.” ‘This Is Your Brain On Love’ is a 6-song whirlwind of emotions, with a distinctive sound that alternately conveys a full-band punk-rock sound and a minimalist indie-rock sound more reflective of a duo.

Willems and Wigginton are looking forward to releasing the next Fox & Cats album, titled Ampersand, which they recorded with Gable and Travis Hill of The Looking Glass Studio. With this album and all future endeavors, the two aim to “bring rock & roll back into this overly POP-ulated music scene.” In early 2015 the band picked up bassist, Chris Dunaway. Additionally, the group plans to continue to fill out their live show with more musicians in the future. The album released on May 12th, 2015.
