IDLEHANDS PREMIERES “FLOOR OF TRADITION”

APR 22 – Today, San Diego, CA’s Idlehands is premiering another new song from their debut full-length, Dena Mora. “Floor of Tradition” can be heard now at Earmilk.comDena Mora will be out on May 19 via Headphone Music, an Equal Vision Records imprint.

“Some of the songs on this record took what seemed like forever to write. This one happened to be one of the songs that came together pretty instantly. The music was almost completely tied together from its conception and the melody for the hook popped into my head after one of the first times that I listened to it,” shares vocalist Johnny O’Hagan. “The lyrics were written about a time in my childhood, when I was putting the weight of my family’s pain onto my own shoulders. I sacrificed my own happiness, in order to keep from adding more grief to my loved ones. It ended up leaving me severely unequipped to self-soothe through the difficult times. Overall, “Floor of Tradition” was exciting to record in the studio, because we felt that it was an instant reflection of the sounds that we love as a band. Hearing it now, brings back those same proud feelings that we all had when we first heard it being mixed in the control room.”

The experimental indie-rock quintet also recently premiered “Filthy Doves” – a new song and music video – via Youtube.com/equalvision. Also available on the video playlist, is the band’s previously released track “Mellow Christ” (featuring Justin Bonifacio of Ghost Parade).

This Spring, Idlehands will head out on a full US run supporting Geographer and Empires. Following the tour they will perform alongside CHON on June 4 in Henderson, NV, and then headline a hometown album release show in San Diego on June 5Idlehands has previously toured and shared stages with the diverse likes of Taking Back Sunday, Being As An Ocean, A Lot Like Birds, My Iron Lung, This Wild Life, and more. All upcoming tour dates can be found below.

Pre-orders for Dena Mora are available now at idlehands.merchnow.com and through digital retailers such as iTunes and AmazonMP3, and include an instant song download of “Filthy Doves” and “Floor of Tradition”. Dena Mora was recorded in Portland, OR with producer Kris Crummett (A Lot Like BirdsClosure In Moscow), and is the follow-up to the band’s 2013 EP, Common Soul.

Dena Mora is an incredibly dynamic album that carves out musical peaks and valleys, while lyrically reflecting on the natural highs and lows of life, including hope, heartbreak and the ongoing efforts to persevere through life’s daily challenges. Through this, Idlehands impressively showcases their ability to create a balanced blend of dark vs. bright, delicate vs. aggressive, and structural vs. atmospheric elements, offering a beautifully sophisticated scope of sounds and storytelling.

Idlehands is comprised of Johnny O’Hagan (vocals), Michael Brekka (guitar), Seancarlo Ohlin (guitar), Phil Di Raffaele (drums), and Isaac White (bass).
