INDIE ELECTRO-POP BAND DEATH OF PARIS ANNOUNCES HEADLINING EAST COAST TOUR

COLUMBIA, SC | June 18, 2015 – Columbia, South Carolina’s indie electro-pop outfit Death of Paris has announced a summer headlining tour hitting the east coast. The tour will take place from July 18th – 31st from South Carolina up to New York. To celebrate their tour, Death of Paris plans to release another quirky video for their song “Give + Take,” the second off their sophomore EP GOSSIP. Earlier this year, the band released their DIY music video for their hit single, Shut Up and Kiss Me” which was coined by The Ruckus as “adorable, ultra-fun, and dazzlingly colorful, destined to make [this song] the ultimate summer anthem.” Here is what frontwoman Jayna Doyle had to say about the videos and plans ahead:

We love shooting music videos! Before starting the band, I went to school for film and the dream then was to do music videos for a living. We didn’t really have a strategic reason in wanting to put out a video for every song on the EP, we just thought, these are all songs we’ve been playing out for a while, and we want everyone [to] visually interpret them in the way that they’re intentionally written. We thought it would add more depth to the EP if you can see how the songs’ stories play out as separate chapters in a larger picture.” – Jayna Doyle

Hailing from Columbia, SC, Death of Paris consists of Jayna Doyle (vocals), Blake Arambula (synth/guitar/programming), Patrick Beardsley (guitar), and John Gornati (drums). Together, the band creates unapologetic pop rock that breaks all the rules. The band’s breakthrough EP Gossip was produced by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (Mayday Parade, All Time Low, We Are The In Crowd) in Atlanta, GA.

Death of Paris has opened for Young the Giant, Middle Class Rut, Shiny Toy Guns, Morning Parade, Blue October and more. They’ve also played events such as Van’s Warped Tour, SXSW, Heylook Festival, and the Run for Your Lives Festival. The band was voted “Top 10 shows of SXSW 2015” by 18/88 Media, has been nominated by the SC Music Awards for Rock Artist/Group of the Year and Single of the Year, and proudly stands as Columbia Fashion Week‘s official band and theme song.

About Death of Paris:

Pop music gets a bad rap. Some say it lacks sincerity, that its artists are created on reality TV shows and in million-dollar studios, that its songs aren’t written by the artists themselves, and that its demographic is the lowest common denominator. Here’s the thing: we still love it. In fact, we are pretty much obsessed with pop music – how it works, where it came from, and the subtle nuances that make a song memorable and beguiling and haunting and just plain likeable.

We’ve been making pop music since 2010, but on our terms. Along the way, we learned to hustle by being our own dutiful tour managers, late-night PR Agents, faithful roadies and the most excited merch people you’ll ever meet. It’s that DIY spirit that seems to clash with the whole pop thing, and that’s the difference – we are sincere, and our music is equally as genuine.

A paradox like that can get people talking, which is why we’ve entitled our newest EP GOSSIP. Recorded with Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (Mayday Parade, All Time Low, We Are the In Crowd) it has the Pop-obsessed characteristics of classic Death of Paris meshed with the ear for detail, songcraft and shine that Odom and Mount bring to the table.

GOSSIP reflects the year and a half of writing collectively as a band for the first time, and also of our loyal fans who have helped spread the word about the album that they’ve also helped successfully fund via Kickstarter. GOSSIP plays on the grey-area between perception and reality, how one of the oldest and most common means of sharing facts, views and slanders can often shape the idea before the reality of it has even been experienced. Within these songs, we hope that listeners can find their own real experiences, as each track serves as a snapshot of our own.

We don’t believe in 9 to 5s. We don’t believe in settling, and we sure don’t believe in molding to an idea based off someone else’s expectations.

We believe in rock ‘n’ roll, breaking the rules, and creating your own reality.

Ours just happens to be writing unapologetic pop music.
